20-25 years ago, I used to go to Omaha and Lincoln regularly on business. We had a sales guy who lived in Omaha. Between Berkshire, the other insurance companies, and Union Pacific (which is what brought me there), it was surprising even then. With the way Berkshire Hathaway has performed since then, I imagine that’s responsible for the really wealthy people there, mostly.

While Berkshire is no doubt responsible for many wealthy people, keep in mind that there are five Fortune 500 companies headquartered here, as well as many other incredibly profitable large and “small” businesses. In terms of transport, in addition to union pacific, we also have the headquarters for the largest trucking company in the country.
